What this site is
EquineWeight provides free calculators for horse weight, feed, hay, water, dewormer dose, body condition and height. Every tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded, stored or shared, and there is no account to create.
The site exists because the numbers horse owners need most often — body weight, ration size, hay requirement — are the ones most commonly estimated by eye, and estimating by eye is where the expensive mistakes happen.
Where the formulas come from
The calculators do not invent anything. They implement formulas that are already published and in wide professional use:
- Weight-tape formula for girth and length, including the separate divisors for ponies, yearlings and weanlings, and the young-foal equation.
- Height conversion using the hand measurement of 4 inches / 10.16 cm.
- Feeding rates expressed as a percentage of body weight, with a minimum forage threshold.
- The Henneke 1–9 body condition scoring system, simplified into an owner-friendly self-check.
Sources are listed at the foot of each relevant page. Where published sources differ — for example in the metric weight divisor — the calculators state which value they use.

EquineWeight is free to use. Running costs are covered by display advertising. Advertising is kept clearly separated from content and is never allowed to sit so close to a button that it could be clicked by mistake.
No advertiser, brand or veterinary practice influences which formulas are used or what the results say.
What this site is not
This is not veterinary advice. The calculators perform arithmetic on numbers you supply, using published constants. They cannot see your horse, know its history, or account for illness.
For any diagnostic question, for medication decisions, and for an individual feeding or conditioning plan, work with your own veterinarian or an equine nutritionist. Where a calculator produces a figure that matters medically — a dewormer dose, or a ration for a laminitic horse — treat the result as a starting point to discuss, never as a prescription.
